Languages Curriculum Statement
Intent
The intention of the French curriculum at Kingsmoor Primary, is that children are taught to develop an interest in learning other languages in a way which is enjoyable and stimulating in order to foster their curiosity of different cultures around the world.
We strive to embed the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing to enable children to use and apply their French learning in a variety of contexts so that our curriculum leaves them with firm foundations for further language enrichment.
Our curriculum is designed to progressively develop children’s skills in languages, through regular taught lessons and should enable pupils to acquire, use and apply a growing bank of vocabulary organised around topics.
We follow the ‘Twinkl’ scheme of work to ensure coverage and progression across the school. All children in KS2 have regular language lessons.
