Music Curriculum Statement
Intent
At Kingsmoor we believe that music should be an enjoyable experience for pupils and teachers. We ensure our pupils participate in a range of musical experiences, building their confidence at the same time. They develop their understanding of rhythm and pitch and learn how music is structured, as well as learning technical vocabulary for these elements. Our pupils experience listening to music from different cultures and eras.
As our pupils’ confidence builds, they enjoy the performance aspect of music. Throughout their Kingsmoor journey, pupils are provided with opportunities to perform in front of an audience. This could be as part of the school choir or as part of the class/Key stage in an end of term production. Our enrichment activities also provide our pupils with opportunities to appreciate music and recognise the benefits it can have to our overall health and wellbeing.
