PE Curriculum Statement
Intent
At Kingsmoor, it is our belief that young children don't need to be trained in sports, they need to be physically educated. Therefore, our intent of teaching Physical Education is to give children the tools and understanding required to make a positive impact in their own physical health and well-being. Physical Education is centred around six core values: creative; cognitive; health and fitness; personal; social; and applying physical skills. Through these six values children experience a wide variety of sports and physical skills which will enhance life-long fitness and life choices.
PE can challenge and promote self-esteem through the development of physical confidence and problem solving. It can teach children to cope with both success and failure in competitive, individual and team based physical activities. Within dance it will allow children to explore their personal and spiritual identity. Children are given opportunities to take part in both intra and inter school sport through the school's' partnership with Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership (SASP) and the Bridgwater Primary Schools Sports Association (BPSSA).
