Online Safety
Message from our Headteacher: (FEB 2019)
Dear Parents and carers,
Several of you and our pupils have become concerned about online activity that we will not name but comes under the category of being a ‘Viral scare’. We take these issues very seriously at school but also have a responsibility to not add to the frenzy of alarm that can be generated. We do not want pupils looking for things they have heard about in school that we have given warnings about. We have taken advice from several sources that promote online safety and would refer all concerned parents to the multitude of advice that exists on line and is accessible with a very simple search of key words. If you can’t find appropriate advice then we recommend the sites listed below.
We would like all parents that allow their children internet access to consider and investigate what their activity includes and have relevant conversations about how to deal with and avoid inappropriate content. We have these kinds of lessons at school every year and we’ve given children advice today but as you know the internet changes constantly and so it is only with adult vigilance and support at home and education at school that we will be able to help keep your children safe while they are in the online world.

Fortnight - Battle Royal
This leaflet for parents that the county IT advisers have put together about the game Fortnite: Battle Royale, which is incredibly popular with young people at the moment. Over the holidays, it was the subject of a few unpleasant news stories relating to grooming. The leaflet is designed to be positive and informative, rather than scaring parents. There is advice about the content, how to turn off chat, and where to get help and support. Click on the image to view the leaflet. |
